Psychological services are not covered under OHIP and your OHIP card is not required. Psychological services may be funded or partially funded through:
- Motor vehicle insurance benefits
- Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP)
- Extended health benefit plans (i.e. Greenshield, Blue Cross, Great West Life, etc)
- Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)
- EAP providers or at the request of your employer
- Long-term disability (LTD) carriers
- Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB)
- Benefit plan for DND and RCMP members
- As part of an Insurer's examination
- First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB)
- Legal aid
- Other clinics or facilities
To receive reimbursement from some extended health plans, you may require a referral from your physician. Services billed, depending on your needs or requests, may include:
- consultation with clinicians
- billing for correspondence
- testing
- completing forms
- telephone calls
- consultation with third parties
- photocopying documents
- supplies
For private clients, payment is required at the time of service and may be made by debit, credit card or cheque.
If you are being seen under motor vehicle accident insurance, your insurance company will be billed for some of the services. If you have extended health care coverage (i.e. medical, dental, vision care) through your workplace, or your spouse's workplace, you must use all available coverage from that plan first before we can bill your automobile insurance. It is very important that you advise us of any extra health care coverage you may have. In those instances where claims are submitted to extended health care insurance plans, payment is required at the time of service. We will issue you an invoice/receipt, which will be required for submission to your extended health insurer.
If you are being seen under benefits through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), they will automatically be billed for services.
Psychological services are tax deductible, so keep your receipts.
Please direct any billing questions to our Clinical Nurse Manager.
